CVL team wins Babe Ruth district tournament title

 

The Cottonwood Valley League 15-&-under team won the Babe Ruth District 4 tournament July 21 to qualify for the state tournament in Wellington this past weekend. The team came back through the losers bracket to win the tournament after dropping its first game last Wednesday to Abilene, 13-11. They defeated Salina Mets, 11-1, and McPherson, 26-1, before facing Abilene for the second time, winning 11-7. The team then knocked off undefeated Mid-Kansas, 21-16, on Sunday evening and 7-6 on Monday evening to take the district title.
