Cannon, Thiessen win senior golf tourney

Marcy Cannon, Hutchinson, won top honors at the 18th annual Hillsboro Women?s Senior Golf Tournament Sept. 11 at Hillsboro Municipal. With a score of 71, Ed Thiessen was overall medalist in the men?s event held the previous day.

Cannon shot an 85 to claim the women?s overall medalist title as well as the top place in the 50-59 flight, which also included Pat Bartel, Hillsboro, and Cheryl Odell, Hutchinson, both of whom shot rounds of 89.

Sheryl Pankratz, Bella Vista, Ark., shot a 90 to win the 60-64 division. Betty Cooper and Dee Hachenberger, both of Hutchin?son, shot a 102 and 113, respectively. Vada Wilson, Lindsborg, won the 65-69 flight with a round of 104. Raye Dirks, Hillsboro, placed second with a 118. Karen Anderson, Hutchinson, placed third in the bracket with a 124.

In the 70-74 grouping, Shirley Meysenberg, Abilene, shot a 92, Elouise Edwards, McPherson, a 95 and Lucille Keller, Hutchin?son, a 101. The over-75 flight winner was Joyce Zerger, with a 101. Dorothy Hartman, Abilene, shot 108 and Rhae Thayer, Hutchinson, shot 110.

On the men?s side, the top three placers in each division are as follows: age 50-54 Herman Hoffman 80, Mark Bennett 80, Robert Wagner 85; age 55-59 Stan Utting 73, Dick Kookz 79, Dan Seaballoz 80; age 60-64 Ed Thiessen 71, Jay Kimberly 76, Clint Seibel 79; age 65-69 Bill Cool 85, Jack Edwards 86, John Knaak 86. Age 70-74 David Weihe 74, Darrel Wilson 84, Dick Jorgensen 85; age 75-79 Bob Gaede 86, Fred Nibarger 89, Bob Kelly 90; over 80 Ken Squires 77, Clay Hedrick, Jr 78, Dale Lambert 81.
