Centre boys improved to 2-3 with two home wins last week. The Cougars ended a season-opening three-game losing streak Tuesday with a 55-50 win over Elyria Christian. Centre then defeated Canton-Galva, 62-24, Friday.

Centre is done for 2010 and will resume play Jan. 4 at Peabody-Burns in Wheat State League play.

Canton-Galva boys won their Tuesday contest against visiting Ell-Saline, 45-41, in its Heart of America opener. The Eagles (1-0, 3-3) continue HOA League play Jan. 4, hosting Berean Academy.

The Centre girls improved to .500 with a pair of wins at home. Opening Tuesday with a 40-39 win over Elyria Christian, Centre snuck past Canton-Galva, 48-42, Friday.

Peabody-Burns?The Warrior boys picked up their second straight win Tuesday, defeating Burrton, 49-44, in Peabody.

PBHS ended the streak Friday, losing to Berean Acad?emy, 58-19. It was the Warriors? second loss to the private school in 10 days. PBHS (2-4) opens Wheat State League play by hosting Centre Jan. 4.

The Warrior girls have yet to find a victory this season after losing two contests last week. PBHS fell Tuesday to visiting Burrton, 33-24. The Warriors ended pre-holiday play with a 39-22 loss to Berean Academy. The 22 points doubled PBHS?s 11-point effort against Berean in the Marion Classic Dec. 9

PBHS (0-6) opens Wheat State League play at home against Centre Jan. 4.

Goessel?After losing to Moundridge, 49-31, Tuesday, the Bluebird boys picked up their first Wheat State League win, defeating recent Eisenhower League power Wakefield, 65-58.

Goessel (1-0, 3-3) returns to action Jan. 4, hosting Hope.

The Goessel girls dropped two contests to enter the break.

Opening the week with a 52-21 loss at Moundridge Tuesday, the Bluebirds ended the pre-Christmas schedule with a 37-36 Wheat State League loss at Wakefield Friday.

Goessel (0-1, 1-5) returns to action Jan. 4, hosting Hope.
