The Goessel Bluebirds placed second ar the Goessel Tourna?ment, beating Hutchinson Central Christian, 58-49, Tuesday in the opening round and Burrton, 44-25, Friday and then lost to Little River 54-45 in the championship game Saturday.

In the win against Central Christian, Trey Schmidt scored 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Corey Buller had 11 points and nine rebounds.

Friday against Burrton, John Berkholz led a balanced Bluebird attack with 10 points. Neal Brubaker contributed eight and Buller and Schmidt finished with seven a piece.

Davis Cook led Goessel in the championship loss to Little River with 18 points. Buller added nine.

The Bluebird girls placed sixth in the tournament, dropping all three contests.

Goessel (1-3) lost Tuesday to Central Christian, 55-27. Burrton defeated the Bluebirds, 36-32, Friday and Elyria Christian beat Goessel, 38-29, in the fifth-place game Saturday.

Goessel traveled to Mound?ridge Tuesday and goes to Wakefield Friday to end the pre-Christmas schedule.

Canton-Galva?After starting the Goessel Tournament with a 51-29 loss to Little River Tuesday, Canton-Galva (2-2) bounced back to take third with a 46-39 win over Elyria Christian and a 53-47 victory over Hutch Central Christian in the third-place game.

Three players finished in double figures for the Eagles against Central Christian. Nick Vogts scored 15, Taylor Myer had 10 and Tad Wedel finished with 11.

In the win against Elyria Christian, the Eagles received double-digit performances from Myers and Kaleb Daily (10).

In the opening game loss to Little River, Myers scored 12 points.

The Eagle girls (2-2) picked up their second win on Friday , defeating Elyria Christian, 36-28. The Eagles finished the tournament 1-2, losing to Little River 54-8 Tuesday and Burrton 31-25 in the third-place game Saturday.

Canton-Galva played host Tuesday to hosts Ell-Saline and will finis pre-Christmas play at Centre.

Peabody-Burns?The Warrior boys (1-3) finished the Marion Classic 1-2, beating Eureka 42-31 in the fifth-place game Saturday and losing to Berean Academy, 54-22, Thursday and Marion, 37-27, Tuesday.

The Warrior girls (0-4) lost all three tournament games, falling Tuesday to Marion, 35-29, to Berean Academy, 46-11, Thursday and Belle Plaine, 55-2, in the fifth-place game Saturday.

Tuesday PBHS hosted Burrton and travels to Berean Academy in Elbing Friday to finish its pre-Christman schedule.

Centre?Centre failed to pick up its first win at the Herington preseason tournament, losing Tuesday to Herington, 70-39, Northern Heights, 64-56, Thursday and Wakefield, 55-44, Saturday in the fifth-place game.

Centre (0-3) hosted Elyria Christian Tuesday and Canton-Galva Friday to end it pre-Christmas schedule.
