Centre? The?Cougars lost their second game of the season Friday, falling to league opponent Little River, 58-22.
The Redskins struck early and often, racking up 20 points in the first quarter while keeping Centre scoreless. Each team put up eight points in the second quarter to make it 28-8.
Centre managed another six points in the third quarter and eight in the fourth, but Little River put up 30 points in the last half for the win.
The Redskins rolled up 211 yards rushing compared to the Cougars? 181 yards.
Centre is scheduled to play Hope at home this Friday.
Goessel: The Bluebirds suffered their second defeat of the season Friday at the hands of the Hope Lions, 52-6.
Hope came out strong early, putting up eight points just minutes into the game, then scoring three more touchdowns and 2-point conversions in the first quarter to make it 32-0.
Goessel?s only touchdown came with 9:38 left in the second quarter, thanks to an 11-yard run by Drake Sterk.
Hope went on to score 12 points in the second quarter and a touchdown and a 2-point conversion in the third quarter.
The Bluebirds had 116 yards of total offense, in contrast to the Lions? 349 yards.
Goessel?s Trey Schmidt led the team with 56 yards rushing, followed up by Sterk with 16.
The Bluebirds will get their chance at redemption Friday on the road against Lincoln.
Peabody-Burns?The Warriors nabbed their second win of their season Friday with a 34-28 victory over Wakefield after their defeat of Centre the week before.
Peabody-Burns put up 477 all-purpose yards in the victory, with 255 of those coming through the air.
Christian Gard led the team with 107 receiving yards. Brody Kyle added 71.
Austin Savage set the pace on the ground with 127 of the Warriors? 140 yards rushing.
Peabody-Burns is scheduled to play Canton-Galva for homecoming this Friday.
