Canton-Galva?The Eagles competed as individuals at Lincoln. Race officials reduced both races to two miles due to the extreme heat.

Justin Hiller placed 11th in 13:37 to pace the Eagles. ?Justin ran a smart race,? coach Lyle Silsby said. ?He held back a little for the first mile and started passing people with about three-fourths of a mile left.

Eli Janzen finished 13th in 13:41. ?He also ran a good, strategic race,? Silsby said. ?We have been working on his finishing kick and he passed nine runners in the last half-mile.?

Helena Clausing finished her first cross-country race in 22:22.

?For her first race experience she did very well?108 degrees on a tough, hilly course. What a way to start,? Silsby said.

The Eagles are scheduled to run at Hesston Thursday.
