Corona leads Warriors golfers league event

The Warrior golf team competed in the Wheat State League-Heart of the Plains League Golf Challenge Monday.

Jade Corona led the Warrior effort, carding an 18-hole score of 117 to place 10th among 24 finishers.

Jacob Matz finished one stroke back, placing 11th with a 118.

Zach Stephey shot a 129 to place 14th; and Brent Buller shot a 137 to finish 20th.

As a team, the Warriors placed third of three four-man teams with a score of 501 behind Goessel (427) and Pretty Prairie (428).

Coming?Marion was scheduled to compete at the Class 3A regional meet hosted by Burlington at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course Monday.

The top two teams at each regional will qualify for state, as well as the five lowest individual scores not part of one of the qualifying teams. Results were not available at press time.

The Class 3A state meet will be hosted by Hesston Tuesday.
