The Tabor College men hit the road Nov. 4 for their first game away from home, and came home with an 86-72 loss at the University of Arts & Sciences of Oklahoma.
Points were hard to come by for both teams in the first half. Tabor led until the game was tied 8 at the 13:44 mark. The Drovers expanded the lead to 37-29 by halftime. In the second half, Tabor rallied from a 47-34 deficit at 16:36 and pulled to within 47-45 on a basket by Deshun Patterson at 14:25. But the Drovers regrouped and pulled away by as much as 17 points (77-60).
Julian Winton led the Bluejays with 20 points, with double-digit help from Patters (13), Alan Urrutia (12) and Diontre Cutliff (11). As a team Tabor shot 38.5 percent from the floor compared to 55.2 percent by UASO. A key difference was the home team’s bench contribution, which outscored Tabor’s, 29-12.
The loss drops Tabor to 0-2 for the young season.
