Three Bluejays named to KCAC preseason team

Robbie Samuel Janelle Rust Nikki Lewis Three Tabor College Bluejays were named to the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference preseason men?s and women?s basketball teams last week.

The men are represented by senior Robbie Samuel, a 6-foot, 2-inch guard from Dallas, Texas. Samuel was a third-team selection last season.

Two Tabor women were unanimous picks. Senior Janelle Rust, a 5-11 forward from Elbing, was named to the team, having earned Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors last season.

Rust was a first-team post-season All-KCAC selection last year despite suffering a knee injury in early February. In 24 of 30 games played, Rust led the KCAC in scoring, field goal percentage and three-point shooting.

Senior Nikki Lewis, a 5-0 guard from Tahlequah, Okla., was also named to the preseason team. A first-team selection last year, Lewis led the KCAC in assists with 163, which ranked her sixth in the NAIA.
