TC volleyball sweeps Bethel, loses to Ottawa

Starting a two-game home stand with a senior night sweep of rival Bethel on Tuesday, the Tabor volleyball team moved into a tie for third place in the KCAC with Ottawa.

But the Braves defeated Tabor in four games Thursday, dropping Tabor to the fourth spot at week?s end.

During the 25-15, 25-21, 25-21 sweep of Bethel, the Tabor front line dominated. Tina Frick finished with 20 kills and senior Jordan Crosson had 10. Courtney Janzen and Jessica Vogts contributed nine kills each.

Mandi Phillips had 50 set assists. Hollister Wolf had 11 digs. Erin Dick had 14 receptions, Courtney Janzen had 12.

In the 23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 19-25 loss to Ottawa on Thursday, the Braves won the first point in each set. Tabor made late runs in the opening two sets, but came up short in both.

Phillips led Tabor with 41 set assists. Frick had 16 kills, Vogts had nine, Crosson had eight and Gina Hullet had seven.

Coming?Tabor (9-5, 12-13) is on the road at Sterling (6-9, 10-18) Wednesday and Southwestern (1-13, 2-19) Saturday.
