Ratzlaff describes Cortney Janzen as ?a champion volleyball player with all-star academic credentials? from Heartland Community High School in Henderson, Neb.
Janzen, a 5-foot, 10-inch middle hitter, led Heartland to a 25-6 record this past season, including a district championship and a trip to the state tournament. She set school records in blocks and ace blocks per season.
Janzen received second-team all-state honors and was an all-conference pick for the fourth consecutive year.
As a junior, Janzen?s team won the Nebraska state championship with a 27-1 record.
Janzen was also an academic all-state selection, earning a 4.0 grade-point average and ranking first in her high school class.
?Cortney brings a very strong middle game and a ton of experience with her to Tabor,? Ratzlaff said. ?Her personality and dedication to excellence will be a welcomed addition to the team.?
Also signing was Jessica Dixon, a 5-8 hitter and defensive specialist from Central Christian School in Hutchinson.
Dixon missed her senior season last fall with an injury that required surgery. But as a junior she was a first-team selection in the Heart of the Plains League and earned honorable mention all-state honors.
?Jessica is a very dedicated and versatile player,? Ratzlaff said. ?Her enthusiasm on the court will make an impact in our program. She has shown herself to be someone who works hard and plays hard and will be an asset to the entire Tabor community.?
