The Bluejays hosted teams from 12 other colleges at the annual Tabor College Invitational on Wednesday.

?We had a great day for a track meet,? coach Dave Kroeker said. ?We had a lot of good competition and a number of fine performances.?

Three athletes on the Tabor women?s team turned in school-record performances.

Sarah Fogle won the 5-kilometer race in 19:51, finishing 19 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Breanna Wray claimed in the hammer throw with a toss of 145 feet, 11 inches. Shelby Miller broke the record set by Janice Neufeld in 1977 in the 400-meter run.

Miller?s time of 59.51 put her in second place, and helped boost the team to a third-place finish behind Cloud County and Cowley County.

Also scoring for the Tabor women were: Aftan Lambert in the 800 (second in 2:27), Heidi Schmidt in the 1,500 (second in 5:10), Carrie Schroeder in the 3,000 steeplechase (third in 14:01), Miller in the 400 hurdles (fifth in 1:09), and Jennifer Schmidt in the 100 (sixth in 12.91).

In the jumping events, Ashley Malcom finished first in the high jump (5-11⁄2), second in the long jump (16-7), and third in the triple jump (37-1⁄2).

In addition to her record hammer throw, Wray claimed second in the shot put (40-91⁄2 ).

Estey Wichert took fifth in the hammer throw (122-1). Dana Champlin (second, 117-8) and Cindy Wertenberger (sixth in 104-0, 6th) in the javelin.

The Tabor men also placed third in a field of 13 teams, led by first-place individual finishes by Trent Voth and Aaron Jenkins. Voth ran the 110-meter hurdles in 15.06 and Jenkins covered 22-81⁄2 in the long jump.

Nathaniel Porter turned in a second-place time of 57.15 in the 400-meter hurdles. Caleb Schroeder (second in 2:01) and Zac Remboldt (fourth in 2:02) both scored in the 800.

Remboldt?s 3,000 steeplechase (second in 10:57) and Dan Sigley?s 5,000 (third in 17:07) also produced points.

In the 100-meter dash, Hector LaBoy (10.93) finished in a third-place tie. Laboy ran 11.22 at the KU relays on Saturday.

In the field events on Wednesday, Brent Wichert?s fourth-place discus throw covered 142 feet and Jeff Harms (6-3) placed third in the high jump. Jenkins went 43-111⁄2 for fifth in the triple jump.

Coming?The ACCK meet, postponed by weather two weeks ago, was rescheduled to run at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel.

Tabor will travel to Winfield on Saturday for the Southwestern Invitational. Events are set to start at noon.
