The Tabor track team broke two school records on its way to a very strong showing at its home invitational April 18.

Tynan Honn broke her own record in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 8.25 inches.

The men’s 4×800-meter relay team, including Chris Lopez, Garrett Daugherty, Phillip Magos and Nathan Vogel, set a record time of seven minutes, 54.67 seconds. They broke their record again Saturday at the KU relays in 7:45.32.

Samantha Van Ranken also moved from a “B” standard national qualifier to an “A” standard with a winning toss of 136 feet.

Gold medalists for the Bluejay women included Emily Post in the high jump (5-5.75), long jump (17-10.25) and triple jump (38-5.5), Brielle Lund in the 5000 (20:07) and Jasmine Peggese in the hammer (142-9).

For the men, winners were Brandon Gooden in the 400 (47.70), Joel Allen in the 10000 (34:41), Dominick Eastman in the 110 hurdles (14.45) Jacob Heil in the 3000 steeplechase (10:22) and Aziz Spellman-Smith in the triple jump (44-11?4). The men’s 4×400 relay team of James Dotson, Daugherty, Eastman and Vogel won in 3:24.10.

Silver medalists for the women included Makenzie King in the 400 (1:01.15) and Lund in the 1500 (5:05). Second-place finishers for the men were Heil in the 5,000 (16:59), Spellman-Smith in the long jump (6.3 meters) and Michael Klaassen in the hammer (48.7).

Taking bronze for the women was Van Ranken in the hammer (38.87). Coming in third for the men were Dylan Crawford in the 1500 (4:19), Ryan Chippeaux in the high jump (1.86) and Henry Kellumen in the long jump (6.26) and triple jump (13.22).

Ten Tabor athletes competed at the Kansas University Relays Saturday. In addition to the men’s 4×800 relay team’s victory, Eastman finished seventh in 14.41. Also competing were the men’s 4×400 relay team, Post, Van Ranken, Honn and Chippeaux.
