TC softball falls to ranked Cavaliers

The Tabor College softball team recorded one win and four losses after competing at the Tucson (Ariz.) Invi?tational before hosting Saint Gregory?s Saturday.

Tabor was swept by 16th-ranked Saint Gregory?s, 12-6 and 9-6.

The Cavaliers took the lead in Game 1 with five runs in the top of the first inning. Tabor countered with two runs over the first two innings.

Saint Gregory?s extended its lead to 7-2 after three innings. The Bluejays outscored the Cavaliers 2-1 in the fourth, but Saint Gregory?s added a ninth run in the sixth, then outscored Tabor 3-2 in the seventh.

For Tabor, Megan Taylor went 2-for-2 with a home run, double and three RBIs. Katie Henning hit a home run and drove in two runs.

Marilee Burge absorbed the pitching loss. Over five innings, she allowed 16 hits and eight runs (all earned). She walked no one and struck out one hitter.

In Game 2, Saint Gregory?s managed six runs before Tabor answered with two in the bottom of the third inning. The Bluejays scored a run in the fifth to draw within 6-3. Each team scored twice in the sixth inning and once in the seventh.

Henning went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and a double for two RBIs. Sarah Massey homered and had two RBIs.

Lauren Massey was the losing pitcher. In three innings, she gave up five hits and six runs (three earned). She walked no one and struck out one.

Mayville State?Tabor won its final game at the Tucson Invitational Wednesday 8-3.

Tabor scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sarah Massey doubled to drive in Chelsea Nutt and Katie Henning. Madison Tracy singled to score Massey.

Mayville State scored two runs in the top of the third inning before Tabor countered with three in the fifth. Tracy?s single drove in Henning, then Araselly Vargas singled to bring home Brittney Dymnioski and Tracy.

Tabor added two runs in the sixth inning when Dymnioski tripled to bring home Nutt and Henning.

Dymnioski went 3-for-4 with two RBIs; Tracy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Lauren Massey was the winning pitcher. Over seven innings, she allowed seven hits and three runs (one earned), while walking two hitters and striking out six.

British Columbia?Tabor lost 13-2 in five innings, scoring both of its runs in the second inning.

Madison Tracy hit a home run and was 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI.

Jaycie Morris was the losing pitcher. In four innings, she allowed 16 hits and 13 runs (nine earned) while walking two hitters and striking out none.

Doane?Tabor lost 8-2 in Tuesday?s first game of the Tucson Invitational.

Doane scored all of its runs in the first three innings before Tabor answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to conclude scoring.

Tabor?s Araselly Vargas was 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Coming?Tabor (9-12)?was scheduled to open conference play Tuesday with two games at Kansas Wesleyan (15-3). The Bluejays are scheduled to host Bethel (4-8)? Saturday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
