TC softball 1-2 at Friends Round Robin

The Tabor College softball team won two games and lost three last week to move to 8-3 for the season.

Friends? The Bluejays went 1-2 at the Friends Round Robin Friday. Tabor first earned a 2-1 win over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Tabor scored in the third inning, but Science and Arts answered with a run in the top of the fourth. The game remained tied until the Bluejays scored a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Katie Henning went 2-for-3 at the plate, including a home run and RBI, while Chelsea Nutt went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Megan Taylor went 1-for-2.

Marilee Burge was the winning pitcher. Over seven innings, she allowed three hits and one run (none earned) while striking out five and walking no one.

Tabor lost to Doane 11-2. Doane built a 7-0 lead before the Bluejays scored two runs in the top of the fourth. Four more runs for Doane in the bottom half of the inning sealed the game.

Araselly Vargas was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Sarah Massey and Brittney Dymnioski both doubled.

Pitcher Lauren Massey absorbed the loss. In 21?3 innings, she allowed seven hits and six runs, all earned. She threw two walks and no strikeouts.

Tabor finished with a 3-2 loss to Baker. All five runs were scored in the fifth inning. Sarah Massey went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Hen?ning went 2-for-4.

Burge, the losing pitcher, allowed seven hits and three runs, all earned in six innings. She walked three hitters and struck out three.

Newman?Tabor split two games Wednesday.

The Bluejays won the first game 6-4. Newman scored three runs before Tabor managed a run in the third and fourth innings to close the gap to 3-2. The Bluejays tied the score with a run in the sixth inning, then outscored Newman 3-1 in the ninth to win.

Henning doubled and had two RBIs, Sarah Massey was 2-for-5 with one RBI, and Dymnioski and Madison Tracy each went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Burge was the winning pitcher, allowing nine hits and four runs (one earned)?over nine innings. She walked two hitters and struck out three.

Tabor lost 6-2 in Game 2. With Tabor leading 2-1, Newman scored five times in the third to claim the win. Nutt and Dymnioski both went 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI each.

Jaycie Morris took the loss. Over three innings, she allowed six hits and six runs (all earned)?while posting two walks and one strikeout.

Coming?Tabor was scheduled to host Clarke University Tuesday and will host Newman for a doubleheader Thursday.

The Bluejays will head to Arizona to take part in the Tucson Invitational Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
