TC men?s tennis seeks 1st win

The Tabor College men?s tennis team is still seeking its first win of the season at 0-3, but coach John Ruder said his team has ?played well? thus far.

Concordia?Most recently, Tabor lost to Concordia, 5-4, March 1.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Kelyn Vix and Tyler Dort defeated Nathan Wingfield and Joel Kaldahl 8-4. Tabor?s No. 2 team, Harry Faber and Luis Navarrette, lost to Patricio Esquivel and Javier Moreno 8-3, and No. 3 Jared Friesen and Jeff Pritchard lost 8-0 to Jonathan Douglas and Michael McCarthey.

Tabor and Concordia split the singles, 3-3.

Earning wins for Tabor were Vix (8-5 over Wing?field), Dort (8-3 over Moreno) and Friesen (8-3 over Philip Yox).

Faber lost to Esquivel (8-3), Navarrette lost to Kaldahl (8-1) and Darian Flores lost to McCarthey (8-4).

Doane?Tabor lost to Doane 8-1 Feb. 28. Tabor?s sole victory came in No. 4 singles when Luis Navarette defeated Daichi Ozawa 8-6.

Also in singles, Kelyn Vix lost to Seb Gardefjurds 6-4, 7-5; Tyler Dort lost to Tyler Johnson 4-6, 6-4, 10-5; Harry Faber lost to Kris Kiland 6-2, 6-1; Darian Flores lost to Muijj Ghani 8-1; and Jared Friesen lost to Chance Hahensac 7-5, 6-1.

In doubles, Vix and Dort lost 8-5; Navarrette and Faber lost 8-5; and Flores and Pritchard lost 8-2.

Newman?In the season opener, Tabor lost to Newman 9-0. Feb. 15.

In singles, Kelyn Vix lost to Ne Dos Santos 6-2, 6-3; Tyler Dort lost to Evgening Kim 6-1, 6-3; Jared Friesen lost to Freddy Sanchez 8-0; Luis Navarrette lost to Miguel Bendito 6-0, 6-0; Darian Flores fell to Jeff Wherritt 6-1, 6-0; and Harry Faber was defeated by Mitchell Whitmer, 6-3, 6-2.

Meanwhile, in doubles, Vix and Dort fell 8-5; Navarrette and Faber lost 8-3; and Friesen and Pritchard were defeated 8-2.

Coming?Tabor was scheduled to host Central Christian Tuesday and will host 18th-ranked Oklahoma Baptist March 26. Matches begin at 3 p.m.
