The Tabor College men?s soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss Wednesday to Avila University.
After 20 scoreless minutes, the Eagles scored the first goal, then added a second one two minutes later.
Niklas Flechsig put Tabor on the board with 17 seconds left in the first half. Flechsig scored from 30 yards out, sending the ball over the keeper?s head. Avila led, 2-1, at intermission.
A defensive battle ensued, with each team holding the other scoreless until the final seconds. Avila added a third goal with 8 seconds to play off a Tabor corner kick.
Avila outshot Tabor, 10-7, including 9-6 shots on goal. Joe Lopez and Flechsig each took two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Alfredo Piedra had five saves.
Coming?Tabor?s scheduled game at Manhattan Christian Friday was canceled because of rain. The Bluejays will host No. 18 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma today at 6 p.m. Tabor will travel to Midland Saturday for a 5 p.m. game.
