TC ends week by defeating Bethel

The Tabor College volleyball team ended its week on a high note by defeating Bethel Saturday, 3-1.

Bethel won Set 1, 26-24, but Tabor earned a 25-23 victory in Set 2.

The Bluejays hit .417 in Set 3 to cruise to a 25-10 win, and kept momentum rolling by winning Set 4, 25-21.

Tabor had 50 kills to Bethel?s 26. Tena Loewen led the attack with 18 kills.

Oklahoma Wesleyan?Tabor came up on the losing end of a five-set battle Wednesday.

The Eagles prevailed in Set 1, 26-24.

Following a 15-15 tie after a Tonisha Dean kill, the Eagles used a 3-0 run to claim the lead. A kill by Tena Loewen followed by a block by Miranda Leibold and Dean evened the score at 24, but a pair of Bluejay attack errors gave the Eagles the victory.

Tabor bounced back to win Set 2, 25-12, aided by .435 hitting. Behind the serving of Amy Horner, who contributed two ace serves and a kill to a 6-0 run, the Bluejays turned a tie into a 13-7 lead. Horner ended the set with a kill.

The Bluejays kept momentum rolling with a 25-19 win in Set 3. Loewen recorded back-to-back kills to give Tabor a 13-8 margin. The closes the Eagles drew after that was within 15-13, and Tabor built a 24-16 lead. The Eagles scored three straight points, but Katelin Horstick gave Tabor the victory with a kill.

Oklahoma Wesleyan won Set 4, 25-16. The game remained close at the start, but after a 10-10 tie, the Eagles began to gain distance with a 6-1 run. Tabor trailed, 20-15 after a Horner kill, but the Eagles outscored the Bluejays 5-1 to earn the win.

The Eagles hit .556 in Set 5 to claim a 15-7 win. Tabor had as many kills (four) as errors in the set. Oklahoma Wesleyan jumped to a 7-0 lead, but Tabor rallied to within 7-5. A 7-1 Eagle run put Oklahoma Wesleyan firmly in front, 14-6. Horner managed a kill, but an attack error gave the Eagles the win.

Loewen led Tabor?s attack with 19 kills.

Kansas Wesleyan?Tabor lost a 3-1 game Monday.

The Coyotes won Set 1, 25-23. Trailing 24-20, Tabor rallied with a 3-0 run that included a kill and service ace by Miranda Leibold, but the Bluejays came up just short.

Kansas Wesleyan won Set 2, 25-20. At one point, Tabor led, 9-8, but a 9-0 run put the Coyotes firmly in the driver?s seat. Kansas Wesleyan withheld a 7-2 late rally by Tabor.

Tabor stayed alive with a 25-21 win in Set 3. Kansas Wesleyan took a 6-1 lead and the Coyotes led a majority of the set. Tabor turned on the heat trailing 21-19, bursting to the finish with a 6-0 run.

Kansas Wesleyan claimed the win in Set 4, 25-19. Tabor took the lead at the start, but after a 6-6 tie, the Coyotes took the lead for good with a service ace.

Tena Loewen led Tabor?s attack with 19 kills.

Coming?Tabor (8-3, 15-9)?will host Sterling (6-4, 15-7) tonight at 7 p.m. The Bluejays will travel to Friends (8-3, 9-7)?Monday for a 7 p.m. game.
