TC athletics 55th in Directors? Cup

The Tabor College athletic department earned 255 points to rank 55th among nearly 300 NAIA colleges in the final standings of the 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors? Cup.

Schools earn points based on national championship finishes in as many as 12 sports, six men?s and six women?s. In all, 189 NAIA schools earned points this year.

Tabor earned 60 points in the fall when the football team advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA Foot?ball Championship Series.

The Bluejays added 811?2 points in the winter, including 25 points apiece for the men?s and women?s basketball teams, both of which advanced to the first round of the NAIA National Tournament. Tabor also accrued 311?2 points for men?s indoor track and field when Garrett Daugherty finished seventh at nationals in the 1,000-meter run.

Tabor added 1131?2 points in the spring, including 351?2 points for men?s outdoor track and field for Daugherty?s third-place finish in the 800. The Bluejays scored 78 points for the baseball team?s debut in the Avista-NAIA World Series.

Tabor was the KCAC?s top finisher. Bethany was next, finishing 67th with 2051?2 points.

The Learfield Sports Directors? Cup was started by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today.
