Tabor women win fifth straight

The Tabor College women?s soccer team extended its win streak to five with two victories last week.

Bacone?Tabor earned a 1-0 victory Saturday. Jessica Renzelman?KCAC Offensive Player of the Week?scored the game?s only goal in the 30th minute. She was assisted by Nicole Stevenson.

The Bluejays outshot Bacone 14-9, including 10-4 shots on goal. Kalee Cross had three saves.

Saint Gregory?s?Tabor won, 4-1, Tuesday. Anna Friesen scored the Bluejays? first goal, assisted by Ashtyn Stephens, in the third minute of play. Amy Vaughan added a second goal, also assisted by Stephens, in the 24th minute, before Saint Gregory?s got on the board with a goal three minutes later.

The Bluejays answered about one minute later when Jessica Renzelman assisted Hannah Simmons with a score for a 3-1 Tabor lead at halftime.

?Going into half 2-1 or 3-1 is a massive difference,? coach Ian Thomson said. ?If it?s 2-1, they have the momentum. With us up two, it gave us some more confidence going into the second half with the wind in our face.?

Renzelman concluded scoring with a goal in the 87th minute, assisted by Nicole Stevenson.

Saint Gregory?s outshot Tabor 15-11, including 11-9 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kalee Cross had eight saves.

?We played a better team game offensively and defensively than we have,? Thom?son said. ?To not play a ?perfect? game and beat a team like Saint Gregory?s 4-1, I am very pleased with this result.?

Coming?Tabor (6-2)?was scheduled to host Central Methodist Tuesday and will open KCAC play at the University of Saint Mary (1-6-2) Saturday at 6 p.m.
