After ending the regular season by sweeping Kansas Wesleyan 4-2 and 8-0, and falling to Bethany 5-4 and 13-4, Tabor (7-9, 16-23) will host this season?s KCAC softball tournament.
Tabor received a complete-game, two-hit performance from pitcher Katelin Thompson in the first game against KWU. She struck out four and walked one.
The Bluejays never trailed, getting runs from Ashley Cohlmia (2), Maggie Cornish (1) and Jessika Guderyon (1). Guderyon was 2-for-2 with one run batted in. Cohlmia finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Winning by run rule in the fifth inning of the second game Wednesday, Tabor got a complete-game two-hit shutout from Roxanne Rodriguez. The freshman threw five innings, striking out three and walking four.
At the plate, Debbie Martinez and Maggie Cornish led the way, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Adria Whitehorn was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Coming?Heading into the KCAC tournament, Tabor looks to be the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Southwestern (13-20, 8-8) in the first round of the nine-team, double-elimination event in Hillsboro Thursday. Semifinals and finals will be played Friday.
Unofficially, the matchup in the play-in game will be No. 8 McPherson (8-18-1, 3-13) against No. 9 Kansas Wesleyan (2-30, 2-14).
The winner will face No. 1 seeded Ottawa (23-7, 15-1). No. 2 Friends (25-10, 14-2) will play No. 7 St. Mary (6-30, 4-12). No. 3 Bethany (21-14, 12-4) will open against No. 6 Sterling (21-20, 7-9).
