Tabor tennis teams finish third in KCAC race

The Tabor men?s and women?s tennis teams each finished third in the KCAC after a split with Bethel College April 24 in North Newton.

The Tabor men improved to 8-8 on the season, going 4-2 in conference play, while the women put up an 8-5 record overall and were 4-2 in conference play.

Bethel ?The Bluejay men picked up a 5-4 victory, splitting the doubles? matches and going 3-1 in singles.

In No. 1 doubles, David Simmet and Clay Shewey lost, 0-8, but the duo of Tyler Dort and Kelyn Vix won, 8-2, in the No. 2 doubles. Jakob Brucks and Jeremy Reiswig won, 8-4, in No. 3 doubles.

Victors in singles included No. 4 Dort (6-3, 6-0), No. 5 Samuel Brucks (6-0, 6-3) and No. 6 Reiswig (6-1, 6-2). Losers were No. 1 Simmet (5-6, 2-6), No. 2 Nathan Panttaja (0-6, 2-6) and Vix (2-6, 1-6).

The Tabor women fell, 8-1, going 1-2 in doubles and 0-6 in singles.

Amanda Faber and Amanda Brown lost No. 1 doubles, 6-8. Also losing were No. 3 doubles Marissa Hiett and Karly Lindroth-Yates, 4-8.

No. 2 doubles Becky Faber and Anna Friesen earned Tabor?s only victory of the day, 8-6.

Losing in singles were No. 1 A. Faber (5-7, 6-2, 3-6), No. 2 B. Faber (0-6, 1-6), No. 3 Brown (1-6, 3-6), No. 4 Friesen (1-6, 1-6), No. 5 Hiett (1-6, 0-6) and No 6 Lindroth-Yates (1-6, 0-6).

Coming ?The Bluejay women were scheduled to take on Kansas Wesleyan Friday at 9 a.m.

The men play McPherson College Thursday at 9 a.m.
