Tabor softball sweeps Mac to finish seventh in KCAC regular season

The Tabor softball team finished its regular season with a two-game sweep of McPherson College, giving them a 26-22 record and seventh place in the KCAC.

Tabor will be the No. 7 seed in the KCAC softball tournament this week.

Tabor won Game 1, 7-1, boosted by a three-run first inning. Alysha Carter and Samantha Behm led the Bluejays offense with two runs batted in, including a home run.

Ashly Hernandez pitched seven innings for the win, allowing five hits, one run and striking out two.

The Bluejays won Game 2, 14-8. Tabor got off to a strong start with an eight-run scoring burst in the second inning, and tacked on three and two runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Taylor Funk and Amanda Howe fueled the Bluejay offense with four and three RBIs, respectively. Each hit a home run.

Hernandez, Jordan Yost and Rae?Shon Johnson each posted two RBIs.

Hernandex pitched seven innings for the win, allowing 11 hits and eight runs while striking out five.

Coming?The Bluejays were scheduled to begin the KCAC conference softball tournament against No. 2 seeded Ottawa University May 4, hosted by Friends University.

The winner of that game will play later that afternoon against the winner of the No. 3 Friends vs. No. 6 Kansas Wesleyan contest.
