Tabor softball gets first KCAC wins

The Tabor College softball team finished the week 5-4, picking up its first KCAC wins of the season.

The Bluejays swept Free Will Baptist College in a doubleheader April 5, winning 4-1 and 6-0.

In the second game, Kaitlyn Thompson pitched a two-hit, complete-game shutout, striking out four and walking one.

In a doubleheader with McPherson rescheduled from Tuesday, Tabor won both games, 7-3 and 5-4.

Pitcher Roxanne Rodriguez was the winning pitcher in both games, throwing 14 innings, striking out 21 batters and allowing nine hits.

Finishing the week at the Boarder Wars Tournament hosted by Rogers State University in Tulsa, Okla., Tabor went 1-5.

The Bluejays beat Culver-Stockton College, 6-5, in their second game of the tournament Friday.

In the other games, Tabor lost to Evangel University, 10-0, and Rogers State, 11-0, Friday, and lost a rematch with Rogers State, 6-5, in the Bluejays? first game Saturday. Tabor ended the tournament with a 6-1 loss to Bacone College.

Tabor (11-18, 2-4) was scheduled to travel to Sterling Tuesday for a doubleheader. The Bluejays will host St. Mary Thursday and Friends Saturday.
