The Tabor College softball team sustained a difficult week, dropping all six games to fall to 8-9 on the season.
Valley City State?After losing to Dickinson State earlier in the day at the Tucson Invitational, Tabor sustained a 4-2 loss to Valley City State Monday.
Tabor got on the board in the first inning when Katie Henning singled to score Chelsea Nutt.
But Valley City State added four runs before Tabor managed its second and final run in the top of the fifth inning. After hitting a double, Becca Bartel later scored on a dropped fly to close Tabor scoring.
Dickinson State?Tabor dropped a 2-1 loss Monday.
Dickinson State scored its two runs in the bottom of the first inning, and Tabor got on the board in the seventh when Araselly Vargas hit a home run on a 2-2 count.
Newman?The Bluejays lost two games Thursday, 10-5 and 7-6. Additional information about these games was not available at press time.
Clarke?Tabor lost both games of a doubleheader Tuesday.
The Bluejays lost 18-8 in Game 1. Tabor scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning before Clarke tied it with two in the second. Again, Tabor followed with two runs in the third inning, and led 5-4 after four innings. But Clarke outscored the Bluejays 14-3 over the next three innings to claim the victory.
Sarah Massey was 2-for-3, both home runs, with four RBI. Lauren Massey hit a home run and had three RBI. Araselly Vargas hit a double.
Marilee Burge absorbed the pitching loss. In five innings, she allowed nine hits and nine runs (seven earned)?while walking no one and striking out five.
Tabor lost Game 2, 9-1, in five innings, with the Bluejays? lone run coming in the third inning.
Ashton Bowen managed a double.
Lauren Massey absorbed the pitching loss. In four innings, she gave up 12 hits and eight runs (seven earned). She neither walked nor struck out anyone.
Coming?Tabor was scheduled to face Doane College and University of British Columbia Tuesday at the Tucson Invitational and will conclude the Invitational with games against Madison Area Technical College and Mayville State Wednesday.
The Bluejays will host 19th-ranked Saint Gregory?s Saturday at 1 p.m.
