Tabor softball 1-3

The Tabor College softball team won one of four KCAC games last week to move to 6-14 in the conference, 14-32 overall.

Saint Mary—Tabor failed to score a run in two losses to the Spires Sunday in games rescheduled from Wednesday.

Tabor lost Game 1, 5-0.

Three Bluejays recorded a hit: Felix, Raegan Ternes and Shanae Strate. Tabor committed four errors in the game.

Brittany Castaneda sustained the pitching loss. She scattered four hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings of work. She walked no one and struck out three batters.

Tabor lost Game 2, 2-0.

Four Bluejays had one hit: Araselly Vargas, Felix, Strate and Brittany Vankonynenburg.

Brianna Quiroz sustained the pitching loss. She gave up six hits and two runs (none earned) in seven innings. She walked three batters and struck out two.

McPherson—Tabor split with the Bulldogs Saturday.

The Bluejays lost Game 1, 11-1, in five innings.

McPherson took control by scoring eight runs off three hits in the opening inning, then scoring two more in the third.

Each team scored once in the fourth. Araselly Vargas keyed the frame with an RBI single.

Tabor had four hits in the game, one each from Vargas, Kaylie Felix, Stormie Bush and Sara Vela.

Alecia O’Brien absorbed the pitching loss. She gave up six runs (all earned) without securing an out or giving up a hit. She walked three batters and struck out no one.

The Bluejays won Game 2, 9-5.

Tabor led, 2-0 through four innings, but used four hits and an error to score four runs in the fifth inning to gain distance. Ariana Landeros drove in two runs with a single. Kaylie Felix hit an RBI single.

Each team scored three runs in the sixth—Felix keyed the half-inning with a two-run single—then McPherson plated one more in the seventh.

Stormie Bush was 4-for-5 at-bat. Felix was 2-for-4 and had three RBIs.

Brittany Castaneda earned the pitching win. She gave up 12 hits and four runs (all earned) in six innings of work. She walked no one and struck out one batter.

Coming—Tabor will host Central Christian Friday on senior day. Game 1 is set to begin at 5 p.m.
