Tabor softball 0-5 at Friends tourney

The Tabor College softball team lost five games at the Friends Tournament Friday and Saturday.

The Bluejays lost their first game to Langston, 17-16, in nine innings, then lost to Graceland, 12-11.

Tabor concluded the day Friday with a 4-3 loss to Baker. Baker scored once in both the second and third innings before Tabor plated a run in the bottom of the third. Baker scored twice in the fourth inning. The Bluejays scored once in that inning and again in the sixth.

Tabor had nine hits to Baker?s three.

Tori Rose was 3-for-4 at-bat and had one RBI. Shanae Strate hit a home run. Baker hit a double.

Brianna Quiroz sustained the pitching loss. Over six innings, she gave up three hits and four runs (three earned). She walked nine batters and struck out two.

The Bluejays lost to Mount Mercy in five innings Saturday, 13-3.

Tabor got on the board with a one-run first inning, but Mount Mercy scored 13 runs over the next four innings, including a seven-run fourth inning, before Tabor added two more in the bottom of the fifth.

Rose hit a triple; Stormie Bush had a double. Sara Vela was 2-for-2 at-bat.

Quiroz sustained the pitching loss. In 32?3 innings, she gave up eight hits and nine runs (all earned) while walking three batters and striking out no one.

Tabor then lost to Midland, 9-6.

Midland scored five runs in the second inning and added four in the third. Tabor meanwhile, scored two runs in each of the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Quiroz hit a double. Bush was 2-for-3 at-bat and had one RBI.

Tristen Hall absorbed the pitching loss. In two innings, she gave up five hits and five runs (all earned). She walked two batters and struck out no one.

Coming?Tabor (4-14) was scheduled to play at MidAmerica Nazarene Tuesday and will participate in the McPherson Tournament Friday and Saturday.
