Tabor men’s soccer gets first win

The Tabor College men?s soccer team earned its first win of the season, 3-0, over York Saturday.

?This was our best offensive performance of the year,? coach Grant Brubacher said. ?It was the first time we were able to control the match and create some chances offensively.?

The Bluejays got on the board in the 32nd minute when Alberto Checa scored.

After halftime, Bransyn Felty scored in the 58th minute, assisted by Philipp Wahl. Agustin Ariza scored Tabor?s final goal in the 72nd minute, assisted by Douglas Millsop.

Tabor outshot York, 22-13, including 10-7 on goal.

Goalkeeper Tom Gaskell had seven saves.

Brubacher praised his team?s defense.

?It was a really good defensive effort,? he said. ?I?m really proud of the way we defended and kept the ball out of the net.?

USAO?Tabor dropped a 5-0 loss to the 17th-ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Thursday.

USAO struck fast with a goal in the first minute of the game and built a 2-0 lead by intermission. The Drovers added three more goals in the second half.

USAO outshot Tabor 30-7, including 11-1 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Ryan Brimager had six saves.

Coming?Tabor (1-5-1) was scheduled to compete at Southwestern Christian Tuesday and will host Central Christian Saturday at 7 p.m.
