Tabor men?s soccer earns 2 KCAC wins

The Tabor College men?s soccer team has kicked off KCAC play with a perfect 2-0 record after victories over Southwestern and the University of Saint Mary last week.

Saint Mary?Tabor defeated the Spires, 2-1, Saturday.

Agustin Ariza struck first with a goal for Tabor, but the Spires evened the score before intermission. Tabor scored again in the second half to claim the win.

Tabor outshot the Spires, 21-7, including 9-5 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Bryson Henry had six saves.

Southwestern?Tabor picked up its first KCAC win in convincing fashion Wednesday, defeating the Moundbuilders 5-0. The Bluejays overpowered Southwestern offensively, taking 23 shots to Southwestern?s two.

The Moundbuilders took no shots on goal; Tabor took 10.

Agustin Ariza put Tabor on the board with a goal off a penalty kick in the 14th minute of play. Bransyn Felty found the back of the net off an assist by Joe Lopez in the 26th minute, and Tabor?s 2-0 lead held through halftime.

After intermission, Felty scored his second goal of the night in the 54th minute. Manuel Miranda-Cortez added a goal in the 77th minute off an assist by Oscar Moyano, and Ariza scored three minutes later off an Anthony Sanders assist, giving Tabor more than enough offense to claim the win.

Felty led Tabor?s attack with seven shots, including five shots on goal.

Coming?Tabor (2-0, 5-4) will play at McPherson (0-1, 3-6) today at 4 p.m. and will host Bethany (1-1, 3-8) Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
