Tabor men drop home opener



The Tabor men?s basketball team lost its home opener to Haskell Indian Nations Univer?sity Friday, 66-57.

The loss puts Tabor at 1-2 so far this season.

The Bluejays held on to a narrow lead in the first half, topping Haskell by six points, 25-19, with 6:51 to play in the half. But Haskell launched a 16-5 run in the last few minutes to lead, 35-30, at the break.

The second half was not kind to Tabor, as the Bluejays struggled offensively and could not slow the Indians? offense. Tabor trailed by at least seven points in the second half.

Senior Joe Penn led Tabor with 12 points, while Lawson Kingsley and Ryan Chippeaux contributed 10 points each. Dylan Clark-Knaeable led Tabor with nine rebounds.

Tabor averaged just 32 percent shooting from the field and 24 percent from three-point range. The Jays had 14 turnovers and were out-rebounded, 44-34.

Coming?The Bluejays were scheduled to host Benedictine College Tuesday. They will compete at the Sterling Classic this weekend, taking on South?western Christian at 4 p.m. Friday and Johnson & Wales at 4 p.m. Saturday.
