Tabor earns sweep of Central Christian?College

The Tabor men?s and women?s soccer teams bounced back from a split at South?western Christian University Wednesday with a sweep at home Saturday against Central Christian College.

Both teams are 4-2 for the season. Tabor is scheduled to host Avila University Wednesday, with games beginning at 5 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men.

Men?Tabor sophomore Marian Saar earned KCAC Player of the Week honors for his five goals against South?western Christian College Wednesday and Central Christian College Saturday.

He helped the Bluejays claim a 3-1 home-field victory Saturday against Central Christian.

Zane Klein scored Tabor?s first goal during the 25th minute, giving the Bluejays a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Central Christian scored 12 minutes into the second half to tie the game, but Klein scored again off an assist from Saar to make it 2-1. Saar later secured the win on a penalty kick.

Goal-keeper Antoine Williams recorded four saves, as the Bluejays outshot the Tigers, 25-7, and 19-5 with shots-on-goal.

The win came after South?western Christian College slipped past Tabor in Wednesday?s game, 2-1.

Saar gave the Bluejays an early lead with a goal in the 21st minute.

In the second half, the Eagles scored in the 76th minute to tie it, then scored four minutes later to take the lead and eventually the victory.

Williams took his first start of the season at the net for Tabor, registering five saves.

Tabor was outshot 30-12, and 7-2 with shots-on-goal.

Women?Tabor added another shutout to its list of accomplishments with a 2-0 win over Central Christian on Saturday. The Bluejays have yet to allow a goal in their four wins this season.

Tabor scored its two goals in the first half, one from Jessica Renzelman during the 23rd minute off an assist from Nicole Stevenson, and another from Yolli Aashelm-Conner five minutes later.

Goal-keeper Kalee Cross recorded three saves for the shutout, as Tabor outshot the Tigers 21-4 and 14-3 with shots-on-goal.

The victory came after Tabor shut out Southwestern Christian University on the road Wednes?day, 3-0.

After a scoreless first half, Tabor scored on an own goal from the Eagles in the 47th minute.

Less than three minutes later, Dayna Wohlgemuth scored her first goal of the season to give Tabor a 2-0 lead. Renzelman scored three minutes later to complete the scoring.

Goal-keeper Amber Mayer had five saves. The Bluejays out-shot the Eagles 6-5.
