Tabor baseball team split a doubleheader with William Woods University (Mo.) Saturday, dropping the first game 9-3 but recording a 7-1 victory in Game 2 for a 5-3 season record.
The Owls jumped to an early 4-0 lead in first inning of Game 1. Tabor scored one run in the third, fourth and sixth innings to narrow the gap to 6-3 going into the seventh inning.
William Woods, however, scored three runs in the seventh to claim the six-point victory.
Grant Silva and Tyler Kozlowski each recorded one RBI for the Bluejays.
Pitcher Josh Stone threw just over five innings, allowing eight hits and six runs while striking out five.
In Game 2, neither team scored the first two innings. A big third inning, in which the Bluejays scored three runs, propelled Tabor to a 7-1 victory.
Troy Torres scored two runs in as many at-bats. Chanin contributed one run and two RBIs in two at-bats, while Art Corona scored one run and had two RBIs in three at-bats.
Silva cashed in one run and one RBI for Tabor, and Kozlowski and Alex Hill each scored one run.
Winning pitcher Matt Lambert pitched six innings and allowed five hits and one run with five strikeouts.
Coming??Tabor was scheduled to travel to Oklahoma Christian University Monday before competing at Doane College Friday, where Tabor is scheduled to open against Doane at 1 p.m. and follow with a game against Baker at 3 p.m.
The Bluejays will compete in a doubleheader at York College Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
