Tabor athletes compete at Emporia qualifier

The Tabor men?s and women?s track teams traveled to Emporia State University Saturday for the very competitive Sam Williams Twilight Qualifier.

Top-10 finishers included Samantha Van Ranken in the women?s javelin, who took fourth with a toss of 125 feet, one inch; Michael Klaassen, who placed fifth in the men?s hammer (159-06); Jasmine Peggese, who came in sixth in the women?s hammer with a season best throw (146-01); and James Dotson, who placed seventh in the men?s 400-meter dash (52.35).

They had no additional qualifiers for national competition.

Coming ?The Bluejays are scheduled to compete at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, May 24-26.

National qualifiers for the men include: Brandon Gooden, Nathan Vogel, Joel Allen, Jacob Heil, Ryan Chippeaux, Dominick Eastman; for the women: Emily Post, Tynan Honn and Samantha Van Ranken.

National qualifying relay teams include: Brandon Gooden, Garrett Daugherty, Eastman and Vogel/James?Dotson (4×400), and Vogel, Daugherty, Phillip Magos and Chris Lopez (4×800).

This season?s group of qualifiers is the largest in school history.
