Sparks resigns as TC coach

John Sparks has resigned as head baseball coach and assistant professor of physical education at Tabor College, according to athletic director Don Brubacher.

?John has represented Tabor College very well in his work with the baseball program and the classroom,? Brubacher said. ?We wish him the best as he moves on.?

Sparks said he strove to build a family atmosphere among his team?one of his greatest accomplishments during his six years at Tabor.

?We talked a lot about what it means to be part of a team and the selflessness, discipline and sacrifice that it takes to become a family,? said Sparks.

?Bringing guys in and actually having them grasp that concept, understand it, and seeing them put it into action was really gratifying to me.?

Sparks will serve as head baseball coach at Calvin College, a Division III NCAA school in Grand Rapids, Mich. He will also have teaching responsibilities.
