Sechrist wins NCCAA steeplechase once again

For the second-consecutive year, Hillsboro alum Emily Sechrist has won a national championship in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Competing at the National Christian College Athletic Association’s Out­door National Champion­ships in Shawnee, Okla., May 11-13, the Oklahoma Baptist sophomore recorded a time of 10 minutes, 58.87 seconds, which bettered last year’s time by nearly 15 seconds.

Sechrist also finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run (18:06.94), helping the Bison women win their second-consecutive team title with 2491⁄2 points.
