Sechrist wins NCCAA steeplechase

Hillsboro alum Emily Sechrist won the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the National Christian College Athletic Association’s outdoor track and field national championships with a time of 11 minutes, 13.69 seconds.

Sechrist, a freshman at Oklahoma Baptist, also finished eighth in the 5,000 (18:38.87), to help the Bison win the NCCAA team title with 152 points.

The national championships were held May 13-14 in Rome, Ga.

Sechrist received All-American honors for her efforts in the steeplechase.
