Ottawa belts TC, 16-0

The Tabor College softball team slid to 1-9 on the season with a pair of 8-0 rule-shortened losses at Ottawa Saturday. The Bluejays mustered six hits against Braves pitchers Ali Salter and Ashley Renaldi, but were unable to push a run across.

Ottawa scored almost at will in the first game, 11 hits and 12 stolen bases against the Bluejays tandem of Danielle Cronauer and Jessica Klose.

Playing without regulars Dorene Dodson and Kezia Cabrera, Tabor recorded two hits by Amanda Howe, but also struck out 11 times in six innings against Renaldi.

In the second game, Roxanne Rodriguez, Howe, Aubrey Whitehorn and Alyssa Voth each hammered out one hit, but Salter struck out five to earn a 5-inning shutout.

Ottawa is presently in third place in the conference standings. Tabor visited Friends April 7, with similar results: a pair of 9-0 five inning games. Tabor posted four hits and eight errors while Friends tallied 18 runs on 14 hits as 12 walks came back to bite pitchers Wedal, Dodson and Jessica Holmes.

Coming?Tabor (1-7, 4-27) was scheduled to visit Kansas Wesleyan Monday. The Bluejays conference schedule includes road trips to Kansas Wesleyan (April 13) and Saint Mary (April 18) and a visit from Southwestern (April 21). Make-up dates for games postponed April 9 and 10 have not been announced.
