The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference will be expanding with the addition of Oklahoma Wes?leyan University, who has accepted an invitation for membership from the KCAC board of presidents.
?This expansion allows the conference to grow its geographic footprint into Oklahoma for recruiting purposes and to connect with alums/fans in Oklahoma from current member schools,? said Commissioner Scott Craw?ford. ?The addition of Oklahoma Wesleyan athletics will further enhance regular season competition in many sports for the conference.
Over the course of the upcoming school year, Oklahoma Wesleyan will begin the transition by taking part in administrative meetings before starting KCAC competition in fall 2015.
Currently a member of the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Eagles offer men?s and women?s basketball, soccer, track and field, cross country and golf, as well as baseball, softball and volleyball.
Oklahoma Wesleyan is a four-year, Christian university of the liberal arts and sciences located in Bartlesville, Okla. and will be the KCAC?s first member not located in Kansas. The university is accredited by the North Central Association.
This is the first addition to the KCAC since 1999 when the University of Saint Mary joined the conference.
