More preseason teams announced by KCAC

Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball, soccer and cross country coaches have selected the 2013 preseason All-KCAC teams for their respective sports.

Volleyball?Four Tabor athletes have been named to the preseason volleyball team.

Katie Kaufman, a senior outside hitter from Moundridge, was named to the preseason team after being selected 2012 KCAC Player of the Year.

She was a 2012 first-team selection and also earned NAIA All-American honorable mention.

Kaufman led the KCAC in points and kills last year, finishing the regular season with 397 points and 344 kills.

She ranked 10th in the KCAC with a .253 hitting percentage.

Two additional Tabor seniors from Moundridge were named to the preseason team: setter Holli?ster Wolf, a 2012 preseason selection and first-team pick; and outside hitter Jessie Vogts, a 2012 preseason selection and second-team pick.

Sophomore Katelin Horstick, a middle hitter from Richmond, also received preseason honors. She was named to the second team last season.

Soccer?Three Tabor men have been named to the preseason soccer team.

Marian Saar, a junior midfielder from Germany, has been named to the preseason team after leading Tabor in points and goals the past three seasons.

A three-time first-team All-KCAC selection, Saar led the conference in points (39), goals (14) and assists (11) last season and was named KCAC Offensive Player of the Week three times.

Two additional Bluejays were selected:?Philip Wahl from Bruehl, Germany, a junior forward who was a 2012 first-team selection; and Adam Morley, a senior defender and second-team pick from Manchester, United Kingdom.

The Tabor women, meanwhile, are represented on the preseason women?s soccer team by Jessica Renzelman, a junior forward and 2012 first-team selection from Lone, Calif.

Cross Country?Two Tabor men have been named to the preseason cross country team.

Junior Joel Allen, a three-time All-KCAC runner from Hillsboro, has been named to the team, having won the Tabor invitational last season and placing second at the KCAC meet.

Allen finished 95th in a field of 309 at the 2012 NAIA Cross Country Championships with a time of 26:05.

Also named to the team is junior Garrett Daugherty of Minneapolis, Kan. He placed 13th at the KCAC meet last season.

The Tabor women, meanwhile, are represented on the preseason team by senior Brielle Lund from Green, Kan.

A three-time All-KCAC athlete, Lund won both the Tabor invitational and the KCAC meet last season and placed 81st in a field of 320 at the 2012 NAIA Cross Country Championships with a time of 19:15.

She earned KCAC Runner of the Week five times last season.
