MidAmerica sweeps TC soccer

The Tabor men?s and women?s soccer teams were swept by MidAmerica Nazarene Wednesday at Olathe.

The men fell, 3-1, and the women lost, 7-0.

The Bluejays were scheduled to return to Hillsboro to host Manhattan Christian College for their home opener Sept. 4. Game times are set for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Joel H. Wiens Stadium.

Men?Neither team could score in the first half of Tabor?s contest with MidAmerica. But at MidAmerica breached the Bluejay defense with goals at 57 and 75 minutes for a 2-0 lead.

Tabor pulled within one less than a minute later, thanks to an unassisted goal by sophomore Zane Klein. But the Pioneers tacked on a third goal in the 87th minute to secure the victory.

Senior goalie Ben Clark posted two saves. The Bluejays were outshot, 15-4, and 16-2 with shots on goal.

Women?MidAmerica started things rolling against Tabor during the first half with a three-goal scoring spurt in less than seven minutes. They out-shot Tabor, 15-2, in the half.

The Bluejays allowed the Pioneers to tack on four more goals in the second half.

Junior goalie Amber Mayer started for Tabor and registered 11 saves. The Bluejays were out-shot, 31-4, and 18-2 with shots on goal.
