MHS softball drops two to Clay Center

The Marion softball team took part in only one of two scheduled doubleheaders last week as the Canton-Galva games slated for Tuesday were postponed because of weather.

The Warriors did see action Friday, traveling to Clay Center for two non-league games. The Warriors dropped both games 11-0 and 10-0 to hold a 2-0 league record, 2-4 overall.

Clay Center got on the board early in Game 1 with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. It added five runs in the fourth while holding the Warriors scoreless.

Marion?s Megan Richmond pitched four innings. She threw 16 first-pitch strikes and had three strikeouts.

In Game 2, Clay Center scored two runs in the first inning then added five in the second for a 7-0 lead. The Tigers added one run in each of the next three innings to finish with 10 by the end of the game.

Chelsea Voth pitched three innings for Marion and threw nine first-pitch strikes. Kayla Kroupa pitched 1.2 innings and had five first-pitch strikes.

Coming?The Warriors were scheduled to host league rival Sedgwick Tuesday and will follow with two rescheduled doubleheaders later this week.

Marion travels to Canton-Galva Thursday and will play at Hutchinson Trinity Friday at 4:30 p.m.
