KCAC coaches pick TC 3rd in soccer, volleyball

The 2014 KCAC coaches? polls for men?s and women?s soccer and volleyball have been released.

Polls were conducted at the KCAC Sport Manage?ment Conference at Sterling Aug. 5.

Men?s soccer?Tabor was picked to finish third in the men?s soccer coaches? poll. The Bluejays tallied three first-place votes and 67 total votes.

McPherson topped the poll with four first-place votes and 72 total votes. Kan?sas Wesleyan (70) received two first-place votes and 70 overall while Ottawa the final first-place vote and tallied 57 overall.

Rounding out the poll were Friends (49), Bethany (40), Saint Mary (26), Sterling (25), Southwestern (25) and Bethel (19).

Last season, the Bluejays finished third in the KCAC regular season with a 5-2-2 record and were 13-6-2 overall. Kansas Wesleyan was regular-season champion. Tabor?s season ended with a loss to Kansas Wesleyan in the KCAC tournament championship.

Tabor has already participated in two scrimmages and will host the University of Texas at Brownsville Friday at 7 p.m. Conference play does not begin until Oct. 4, when Tabor travels to Saint Mary.

Women?s soccer?Tabor tallied 31 total votes to place seventh in the KCAC coaches? poll.

Ottawa claimed top honors with seven first-place votes and 79 total votes. Kansas Wesleyan (71) received two first-place votes, and Bethany (67) received one.

Rounding out the poll were Sterling (52), South?western (52), McPherson (40), Friends (28), Saint Mary (20) and Bethel (10).

Last season, the Bluejays recorded a 3-6 KCAC record and finished 6-11 overall.

Tabor has already participated in two scrimmages and will host Avila Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. Conference play begins Oct. 4 at Saint Mary.

Volleyball?Tabor was picked third in the KCAC volleyball coaches? poll with 51 total votes. Kansas Wesleyan topped the poll with seven first-place votes and 63 total votes. Friends came in second (53). Ottawa (43) received the final first-place vote.

Rounding out the poll were Sterling (38), McPher?son (35), Bethel (30), Bethany (18), Saint Mary (17) and Southwestern (12).

Last season, Tabor was regular-season co-champion with a 16-2 record in the KCAC and finished 25-7 overall. The Bluejays lost to Ottawa in the KCAC tournament semifinals.

Tabor is currently 1-3 for the season and will participate in the Kansas Wesleyan Tournament Saturday and Sunday. Conference play begins Sept. 3 at South?western.
