The Tabor College baseball team opened conference play with a series sweep of the University of Saint Mary Saturday and Monday.
The Bluejays opened with a 6-3 victory in Game 1 Saturday.
Tabor got on the board quickly when Kirk Rocha hit a home run in the top of the first inning. Troy Torres added to it with a home run in the second inning. The Bluejays scored their third run in the top of the fourth inning when CJ DeDeaux doubled to score Keenan Chanin.
The Spires managed two runs in the bottom of the inning, and each team added a run in the fifth inning. Tabor?s came when Torres hit a sacrifice fly to bring Rocha home.
The Bluejays made two runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.
Torres was 1-for-3 with two RBI, Luis Munoz was 2-for-3 with one RBI, Rocha was 2-for-4 with one RBI, DeDeaux was 1-for-2 with one RBI, and Jean Acevedo was 2-for-3, including a double.
Junior Mustain was winning pitcher. In seven innings, he allowed six hits and three runs (all earned)?while walking two batters and striking out six.
Tabor followed with a 4-2 victory in Game 2.
The Bluejays scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Gadiel Baez doubled to score Pete Lelich and Silva.
The Spires scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth, and Tabor outscored the Spires 2-1 in the sixth inning.
Baez was 1-for-4 with two RBI; Armando Castillo was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Russell Longworth was winning pitcher. In seven innings, he allowed three hits and two runs (one earned). He walked no one and struck out four batters.
Tabor continued its success Monday, gaining an 18-0 victory over the Spires in Game 1.
The Bluejays led 7-0 after four innings and enjoyed a nine-run fifth inning, in which Torres singled and Colton Flax doubled. Jenkins then doubled to score Torres and Flax. DeDeaux later hit a three-run home run. Rocha later singled, followed by a Seeger double. Torres singled to score Rocha, then Flax hit a three-run home run.
DeDeaux hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to polish Tabor?s scoring.
Rocha was 4-for-4 with three RBI; Flax was 2-for-2, including a home run, with three RBI; DeDeaux was 3-for-4, including two home runs, with six RBI; and Torres was 2-for-2 with one RBI. Baez, DeDeaux, Flax, Jenkins and Seeger all doubled.
Jacob Webb was winning pitcher. In seven innings, he allowed four hits and no runs. He walked no one and struck out 14 batters.
Tabor completed the sweep with a 7-5 victory in Game 2.
The Bluejays built a 4-0 lead before the Spires countered with three runs in the fifth inning. Tabor managed three runs in the bottom of the inning. The Spires scored two final runs in the seventh inning, but Tabor claimed the victory.
Acevedo was winning pitcher. In six innings, he allowed five hits and three runs (one earned). He walked three hitters and struck out 11.
Central Christian?Tabor gained a 14-10 victory Tuesday.
The Bluejays scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Central Christian claimed the lead by outscoring Tabor 6-3 in the second inning.
The Tigers added two runs in the fourth inning, but Tabor took the lead for good with a six-run fifth inning, during which Grant Silva hit a grand slam on a 0-0 count. Gadiel Baez singled, then Kirk Rocha doubled. Both later scored to cap the six-run inning.
Tabor added two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Central Christian scored one each in the seventh and eighth. The Bluejays concluded scoring with one run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Colton Connolly was winning pitcher. In 3 2/3 innings, he allowed five hits and two runs (both earned) while walking one batter and striking out five.
Southwestern Christian?After defeating Hillsdale, the Bluejays earned a 4-0 victory in their second game Monday.
Grant Silva was 2-for-3 at-bat, while Gadiel Baez was 1-for-3. Case Jenkins hit a double.
Alex Cole was winning pitcher. He allowed two hits, while walking two batters and striking out three.
Hillsdale Free Will Baptist?Tabor won, 8-1, Monday. The Bluejays scored one run in the third, fifth and sixth innings, and outscored Hillsdale 5-1 in the seventh to claim the victory.
Jean Acevedo was 2-for-4, including a home run, and had four RBI, Grant Silva was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Armando Castillo was 1-for-2 with one RBI. Ryan Neufeld hit a double.

Coming?Tabor (4-0, 20-5) was scheduled to play at Fort Hays State Tuesday and will travel to Ottawa (0-4, 6-12)?Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The Bluejays will host Ottawa Saturday at 1 p.m.
