Jays drop 6-1 game

The Tabor College women?s soccer team suffered a 6-1 defeat at Avila University Wednesday.

Avila outshot the Blue?jays 23-9, and took twice as many shots on goal (14-7).

Those numbers paid off early as Avila?s Alyssa Parsells headed a ball off a corner kick just one minute into the game.

Tabor responded with a tying goal less than two minutes later. Nicole Stevenson found the back of the net off an assist from Ashtyn Stephens.

Avila, however, scored twice more before halftime to lead, 3-1.

The Eagles added to their lead with a goal in the 64th minute and two more scores in the final 10 minutes of play for the final margin.

Goalkeeper Carly Rowan had seven saves. Stephens and Stevenson led the attack with three shots apiece.

Coming?Tabor?s scheduled game at Manhattan Christian Friday was canceled because of rain. The Bluejays (2-3) will host No. 19 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma today at 4 p.m.
