The Tabor College men’s cross-country teams opened its competitive season Saturday at the Warrior Fest Invitational hosted by Sterling College.
Freshmen Collin Bruske and Garrett Kinsey led the Bluejays to a tie for third place. By finishing their first races in 28:27 and 28:30, the duo entered the record books as the 26th and 29th fastest cross-country runners in Tabor history.
Also competing for Tabor were: Jonathan Hinerman, 20th in 29:24.9; Thomas Bacon, 22nd in 29:44.1; Riley Ballou-Lyngstad, 24th in 30:15.1.
“The men had a solid outing, especially our freshmen,” coach Joel Allen said. “With the youth on this team, we definitely have a lot of room to grow, but I think we showed a lot of promise this morning.
“It didn’t help to have Thomas struggle with cramps today, but I loved how our young guys could learn how to pick up the slack and finish well. This was a great learning opportunity.”
The Bluejays will be hosting their home invitational Sept. 23 at Cottonwood Point on Marion Reservoir.
