Dechant named NAIA All-American

Tabor College senior Damon Dechant received All-American honors from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for his play this past season.

Dechant missed part of the season due to injury, but was still one of five players in the KCAC to receive these honors and was appointed to the all-KCAC first team for the second year.

In addition to leading the Bluejays in several categories, including points per-game, field goal percentage, rebounds per-game, and blocks, Dechant passed 1,000 points in his Feb. 17 game against Friends University.

Dechant also totaled 566 rebounds, 111 assists, 87 blocks, and 82 steals, accumulating a 51 percent shootage average. He averaged 14.4 points per game, giving him fifth in the KCAC.

Sophomore point guard Lawson Kingsley was awarded honorable mention all-conference honors this season, after being named to the KCAC all-freshman team last season.

Kingsley finished second, behind Dechant, in scoring for the Bluejays, averaging 10.5 points per game and shooting 38 percent from behind the arc.
