Daugherty 7th at NAIA indoor meet

Tabor College junior Garrett Daugherty earned All-American honors by placing seventh in the finals of the men?s 1,000-meter run in 2:31.92 at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships last week.Garrett Daugherty led the Tabor College effort at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships last week in Geneva, Ohio.

The junior earned All-American honors by placing seventh in the finals of the men?s 1,000-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 31.92 seconds. He qualified for the finals by placing eighth in the preliminary round in a personal-best 2:27.58.

?Garrett just ran a great race on Friday in the semifinals,? coach Dave Kroeker said. ? A 3-second PR is huge at that distance.?

Senior Alex Grier finished 20th in the preliminary round of the men?s 200-meter dash in 22.55, but did not qualify for the finals.

The men?s 4×800 relay team of Phillip Magos, Bret Mueller, Joel Allen and Daugh?erty did not advance out of the preliminary round after placing 17th in 8:12.82.

As a team, the Tabor men finished in a four-way tie for 41st in a field of 49 teams.

Coming?Tabor will transition to the outdoor track and field season at the Southwestern College Relays Thursday in Winfield.
