Garrett Daugherty led the Tabor College effort at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships last week in Geneva, Ohio.
The junior earned All-American honors by placing seventh in the finals of the men?s 1,000-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 31.92 seconds. He qualified for the finals by placing eighth in the preliminary round in a personal-best 2:27.58.
?Garrett just ran a great race on Friday in the semifinals,? coach Dave Kroeker said. ? A 3-second PR is huge at that distance.?
Senior Alex Grier finished 20th in the preliminary round of the men?s 200-meter dash in 22.55, but did not qualify for the finals.
The men?s 4×800 relay team of Phillip Magos, Bret Mueller, Joel Allen and Daugh?erty did not advance out of the preliminary round after placing 17th in 8:12.82.
As a team, the Tabor men finished in a four-way tie for 41st in a field of 49 teams.
Coming?Tabor will transition to the outdoor track and field season at the Southwestern College Relays Thursday in Winfield.
