Adam Matz, Lincolnville, 2011 graduate of Centre High School, recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Kansas Wesleyan University. Centre does not offer baseball, but Matz played with the Hillsboro summer baseball league for several years. This summer he pitched for the Emporia Legion team (left photo) that won the state championship and played in the regional tournament at Minden, La. While at Centre, Matz placed in three state golf tournaments and won the Hillsboro golf tournament. Pictured (right photo) with Adam are parents Steve and Janet Matz; back row, KWU baseball assistant coach Bobby Bride and head coach Mark Carvalho, and Emporia Legion coach Steve Schlup.
