The Tabor College softball team swept Central Christian College in back-to-back shutouts at its home opener March 12, then went 2-2 at the Sterling College tournament in Hutchin?son Friday and Saturday.

?We did some great things to show that this team will come together strong once conference games start,? coach Suzanne Unruh said. ?We have been tweaking the lineup as well as a few defensive positions, looking for the right mix.

?I feel confident this group of girls will compete for one of the top finishes in the KCAC this spring. We have wonderful leadership, and the girls really play well as a team out there.?

Tabor carried that momentum into a first-round win at the McPherson College tournament March 9-10 against Central Christian College, but lost the next four tournament games.

?Our record may not show the strides we have made since last year?s finish, but we have also been playing a tougher on-the-road schedule,? Unruh said.

?We have six weeks left of our season, and 10 of our next 14 games will be at home, where I feel we play very well and have a great crowd that comes to support us.?
