Bluejays still flying high by winning three of four

Tabor?s nationally ranked baseball team defeated Central Christian College by a combined 34 runs while posting 11 home runs, then split a doubleheader with Kansas Wesleyan at home last Saturday.

The Bluejays are ranked 23rd in the NAIA at 35-8.

Kansas Wesleyan?The Bluejays absorbed an 8-9 loss in Game 1, leading 8-6 before the Coyotes rallied with three runs in the seventh inning.

Kori Melo led Tabor with three runs batted in, and Koby Temple and Tanner Stevensen each added two.

Jeff Hutton hit a home run for the Bluejays.

Jonathan Murray, who pitched 41?3 innings, allowed six hits, five runs and struck out two.

Tyler Fenton, who pitched 22?3 innings, absorbed the loss, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five.

Tabor rallied in Game 2 for an 8-3 victory, compiling its eight runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Stevenson had three RBIs for Tabor, including a home run, while Adam McCormick drove in two runs.

David Ormiston pitched seven innings for the Bluejays, allowing three hits, three runs while striking out eight.

Central Christian?The Tabor bats blasted nine home runs in the Bluejay?s 23-1 victory in Game 1.

Tabor racked up 14 runs in the first inning alone, tacking on six and three runs in the two subsequent innings.

Nathan Rausch led the Bluejays with two home runs and six runs batted in, while Koby Temple had three home runs and five RBIs. Andrew Perez and Jeff Hutton each had three RBIs and a home run.

Winning pitcher Nicholas Reif pitched three perfect innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out two. Nate Percy pitched two innings.

In Game 2, the Bluejays won 18-6, propelled by eight runs in the fourth inning.

Perez had four RBIs for Tabor, and Kori Melo, Adam McCormick, and Bret Lentz each had three. Lentz and Perez hit home runs.

Darius Iacono pitched two innings for the win, allowing three hits and five runs, while striking out two. Steve Trau?mann pitched three innings.

Coming?Tabor was scheduled to play at Kansas Wesleyan Monday before traveling to Friends University Thursday.

The Bluejays are scheduled to play Friends at home Saturday.
